What do workers' compensation benefits entail?

If you file for benefits through the workers' compensation system, your employer is responsible for paying your medical expenses and has the right to direct your medical treatment. This means your employer may choose your doctor. You do, however, have the right to ask the Industrial Commission for permission to see a doctor of your choosing.  It is very important that you get permission first before you see a doctor. If you are treated by your own doctor without getting permission from the Industrial committee, you may jeopardize your benefits.
