Car-Moped Crash Results in Death

In Greensboro, police say that they have arrested and charged a woman who was wanted in connection with an auto accident that resulted in the death of a man.

This week, police served Laree Johnson with outstanding warrants for felony death by vehicle. 

Last Sunday, officers responded to an accident on Florida Street at Hardie Street where they say that Johnson crashed into a moped.  Johnson had made a left turn onto Hardie Street while failing to yield the right of way to the moped, which led to the collision.

The driver of the moped, Victor Cruz-Orozco, was rushed to Moses Cone Hospital where he later succumbed to his serious injuries.

Since the accident, Johnson has been charged with driving while impaired (DWI), felony death by vehicle, no operators license and failure to yield right of way causing serious bodily injury.  She is being held in Guilford County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
