Motorcyclist Killed by 17 Year Old SUV Driver

In Sophia, a man was killed after his motorcycle collided with a SUV on Wednesday.  The motorcycle accident occurred less than one block from his residence.

According to the Highway Patrol, the man was 57 year old Michael C. Lewis.  He was taken to High Point Region Hospital following the accident and pronounced dead at the medical facility.

The driver of the SUV was later identified as 17 year old Kasie L. Baker.  She was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and also failure to yield.  The Highway Patrol said that the accident occurred at the intersection of Mt. Gilead Church Road and Levels Plains Road during late afternoon hours.

At the time of the crash, Lewis was driving his Harley-Davidson motorcycle west on Mt. Gilead Church Road and was suddenly hit by Baker's SUV, which had stopped at a stop sign and then entered the intersection.
