Four Killed in Tragic Truck Accident

Tragedy struck on Interstate 26 in western North Carolina last week, claiming the lives of four and severely injuring two more. Roumen Todorov, 48, has been charged with one count of assault and four counts of involuntary manslaughter. His tractor-trailer caused a chain collision with seven passenger vehicles and another tractor-trailer that were were stopped due to another accident.

The eastbound lanes of the interstate were already closed due to the first accident, but after Todorov lost control of his vehicle, the westbound lanes were shut down as well until early Monday morning. No additional reports have been released yet as the North Carolina Highway Patrol continue their investigation into the cause of the accident.

Those who lost their lives were: Charles Novac, 22; Thersa Saver, 23; Alvin Kimbell, 60; and Gail Kimbell, 55. Two more victims - Laci Fredericks and Amber Reid - were taken to an area hospital to treat their injuries.
