Mother to be Awarded $200,000 for Son's Wrongful Death
A mother will be awarded $200,000 for the wrongful death of her son, Danny Brown, age 20. An aspiring singer who had opened for Nappy Roots, and had also signed with Heavy Green Entertainment before his death, Brown was riding in the flatbed of a pickup when the driver lost control. The truck flipped, killing the young man at the scene of the accident.
The family had originally asked for $3 million in the settlement. It appears that the $200,000 will be split among various members of the Brown family, as well as $70,000 for attorney fees.
Daniel A. Wise, the driver of the pickup truck, plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving in August. At that time the judge fined Wise $250 in addition to $82 in court fees.
