6 Charged in Nursing Home Abuse Case
In the city of Albert Lea, the Associated Press has reported that a second former aide debt stands accused of sexually and psychologically humiliating residents at a local nursing home has entered into a plea deal with state attorneys.
The local newspaper says that 20-year-old Ashton Larson entered pleas on Thursday afternoon to three counts of disorderly conduct by a caregiver. The defendant also entered a plea for a gross misdemeanor charge. The plea acknowledges that the prosecution had sufficient evidence to convict the defendant in each count was related to a separate victim.
In August, the second defendant, Brianna Broitzman answered a similar plea in court. Larson's recent entry brings the victim count to six.
Police say that both defendants accused residents at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home during the year 2008. Four other defendants appeared in juvenile court to face charges for not reporting the elder abuse.
