Family Gets $4.6 Million in Medical Malpractice Lawsuit

New River Medical Center (formerly big Lake Community) was found guilty by a Wright County jury of medical malpractice it was reported.  The case stems from the death of a 36-year-old wife and mother.  

The damages awarded to the family for their loss was determined by the jury to be $4,623,924.  Representing the family was Kathleen Flynn Peterson of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P.

Among the damages awarded to Claudio Calgano's family was more than $220,000 in pas economic losses and $750,000 in past loss of advice, assistance, comfort, companionship, and protection.  Additionally, the family will also receive more than $1.4 million in future economic losses as a result of her death.  $2.2 million in future loss of advice, assistance, comfort, companionship and protection will also be awarded to the family.
