19 Year Old Dog Bite Victim Needs Surgery

In Sioux City, Iowa, it has been reported that no charges will be filed against individuals involved in a dog bite incident that took place last week. During the incident, a young boy was attacked by a dog.

Police say that the dog in question was tied to a tree in its owner's unfenced yard on Douglas Street.  While the dog was tied to the tree, 19-year-old Samuel Van Donslear wandered over from his house next door and was attacked.

Following the incident, the 19-year-old had to undergo surgery as he had suffered injuries to his chest and lower body.  Police say he was released from the hospital last Thursday afternoon.

According to authorities, the dog has been declared vicious and the owner was issued a civil infraction for having a vicious animal.  However, the owner has the right to appeal the ruling.

Police say that the dog is being held at Sioux City's Animal Adoption and Rescue Center.
