Victim Slowly Recovers from Bicycle Accident
Despite the nearly fatal bicycle accident she was involved in a month ago, a young woman has amazed family and friends by beating the odds.
The 20-year-old victim was riding her bicycle in Sylvia, North Carolina when she fell off the bike, hitting her head on the pavement. Since she was not wearing a helmet, she suffered head injuries so severe that she was found to have no brain function.
Even though she was placed on a respirator for several weeks, she faced a slow recovery. In addition to fracturing her head, she also broke her collarbone. However, at the time, doctors were more concerned about a ruptured artery in her head that led to massive cardiac arrest several hours later.
Now, the girl is reported to be in stable condition and is making a slow, but steady recovery from her bicycle accident related injuries.
