Injured by a Product While on the Job
Kidde Portable Equipment Inc., based in Mebane, N.C., has issued a recall for industrial fire extinguishers after reports of injuries reached the company. The recall covers 10lb industrial fire extinguishers manufactured at any time between 1991 and 2000; about 470,000 of the devices are being recalled in total. According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, three people have been injured to date. According to the report, the nylon valve occasionally separates from the steel cylinder. This defect can lead to serious injury, as well as potential device failure during a fire.
Nationally, thousands of products are recalled for all kinds of reasons every year.
