The Most Common Workplace Injuries in North Carolina

Craig Murphy is not entitled to additional workmen’s compensation payments. The North Carolina Industrial Commission, together with the Court of Appeals, decided that although he was justified in claiming payments for his left arm, which was crushed and burned in an industrial accident, that there was little evidence to show that Mr. Murphy’s back pains, for which he sought further compensation, were related to the accident.

Mr. Murphy was injured during a freak accident when his arm got caught and pulled between two rollers at the Goodyear plant in Fayetteville.

Some of the more common workers’ compensation accidents that occur in North Carolina are:

  • Slip and fall – As with any other place, worksites can be dangerous. Slip and fall accidents happen on a regular basis, and are probably the most common kind of injury in the state.
  • Repetitive stress – Damage and pain resulting from repetitive movements, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, is also a common claimed injury.
  • Back pain and injury – Usually caused by lifting heavy objects, back pain is another common workplace injury.
  • Eye injury – Eye injuries often result from flying debris or squirting liquids and are quite common.

If you or a loved one has been involved in a workplace accident, you may be entitled to receive compensation from your company’s workers’ comp program. It is best to contact a qualified workmen’s compensation attorney to help with your claim, as the insurance companies will try hard to avoid paying for damages.
