A collision in Denver, NC took the life of a teenager and injured six more.
According to police reports, the victim, 17-year-old Haley Shay Campbell, was driving a Honda Civic when it was struck by a white utility truck. The accident happened right after the students had been dismissed from North Lincoln High School, at the intersection of Henry Dellinger Road and Highway 150.
The remaining passengers were lucky enough to not have suffered any life-threatening injuries. Commenting on the tragedy, North Lincoln High School President Martha Helton said that Campbell was "a likable young lady, a very sweet young lady, and she will be missed." The students have since then created a Facebook page honoring Campbell's memory.
The fatal car accident prompted school officials to provide the students with grief counselors. At this time, the North Carolina Highway Patrol is collaborating with the District Attorney's office to decide whether to press motor vehicle charges against the responsible driver.
