Officer Involved in Deadly Auto Accident Was Not at Fault

When Results Matter Most, Hire a Heavyweight

A police officer was involved in a deadly auto accident last week in North Carolina. Due to eyewitness testimony, he is likely not to be charged with the death of the victim, an older woman. Eyewitness reports indicate that the officer was heading down a local road when a vehicle pulled out in front of him. He attempted to swerve out of the way but did not have enough time. Instead, he drove into the driver's side and killed the woman behind the wheel. The victim, 59-year-old M.L.S., was leaving a restaurant at the time.

Although the investigation is still ongoing, it appears as though the officer is not at fault. He was brought to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were found to have been wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision. Following a brief investigation, police say they do not believe that alcohol was a contributing factor for either party.
