In North Carolina, it is reported that a teenager died while driving and texting. The girl, 16-year-old Ashley Johnson, was reading a text message when she drove into on-coming traffic. She ended up hitting a Ford truck that was traveling in the opposite direction.

This unfortunate car accident occurred on Monday on Long Shoals Road. Immediately following the collision, Johnson was rushed to a local hospital and received treatment. However, her injuries were severe and she died in the intensive care unit one day later.

Aside from texting on the phone, police say that Johnson was driving 52 mph in a 45 mph zone. No reports have been released on the driver of the Ford truck.

Texting and speeding are two of the most negligent things people can do while driving cars and can easily result in accidents, injuries and deaths.
