Bio
Don Higley joined Lanier Law Group, P.A. in 2010. Don is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his J.D. Degree from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 1994. He was a Dr. John J. Broderick Law Scholar and was Editor-in-Chief of the Campbell Law Review. Before he served as Editor, the Law Review published his article, “Lujan v. Defendants of Wildlife, Slashing and Burning the Law of Environmental Standing.”
Don concentrates in the areas of medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury. He also has significant experience litigating in a wide variety of areas, including complex business litigation and construction litigation. Don has presented oral arguments in the North Carolina Appellate Courts and the North Carolina Supreme Court. He is admitted to practice in Federal Court and has extensive litigation experience there, including arguing at the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond. Don is admitted to the United States Supreme Court. Don is also a certified mediator.
Don is a recognized expert on the subject of automobile insurance coverage. He authored a chapter entitled “Insurance Coverage for Injuries Arising Out of the Use of an Automobile” for the treatise Personal Injury Practice in North Carolina, published by the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. Don is active in the N. C. Advocates for Justice, having served as Chair of the Auto Torts Section, and has lectured in various continuing legal education courses.
Don has received the “AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating,” the highest peer review rating conferred by Martindale-Hubbell.
