At that time, Kline was a teacher at a Roman Catholic High School and was in residence at the St. Francis Xavier parish in Philadelphia. He had befriended the Finnegan family and often went to visit them and even vacation with them.
Although Finnegan just recently filed his claim against the Archdiocese of Philadelphia the man in question had long passed away. Kline died in 1996 after open-heart surgery at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Why the reason for the delay? Apparently, Finnegan had no memories of the sexual contact until three years ago when memories surfaced during a phone conversation with a victim’s assistance hot line.
