Michael Annett Charged with Causing a DUI Accident

When Results Matter Most, Hire a Heavyweight

Famous racecar driver Michael Annett has been charged with driving under the influence leading to a two-car accident.

Annett, of NASCAR Nationwide Series driver fame, is just entering his first season for Rusty Wallace Racing while being charged with unlawful use of a mobile phone to text or send email, failure to reduce speed and resisting arrest, all of which fall under the misdemeanor category.

Mooresville police found Annett to have a blood-alcohol level of 0.32, which is above the legal limit of 0.08 in North Carolina. They had been called to the scene when he rear-ended another vehicle stopped at a red light around 1:32 a.m. on Sunday morning. Unluckily for Annett a police officer also witnessed the accident and conducted an immediate field-sobriety test.

Despite shoving some breath mints into his mouth, Annett was unable to disguise his drunken state from the officers. Although nobody was injured in the crash there is an estimated $3,000 worth of damages to the car that was hit and $6,000 to his own truck.
